Ohh I love this topic!
Wordpress is a blog/website/shop/whatever you want it to be.
I have studied this for years and continued to develop my website with major improvements since I started. Honestly I had a hard time getting started and I was overwhelmed with the idea of making a website work. I only knew some html codes from making different layouts on my myspace page back in the day. {That is a great start and practice for html haha}. Now that I have a grip on how it all works I want to help those of you who are in the same spot I was – confused and eager to learn.

1) What is wordpress.com & wordpress.org & the difference between them?

wordpress.com is mostly a free website {its free unless you want your own domain which is $20 extra} that lets you make blogs or websites. You can edit the pages, posts and choose from a selection of themes{layouts}.
wordpress.org is free too BUT you need to get a domain for this and a host, which you do have to pay for. With this you can do everything wordpress.com can do AND you can MAKE or DOWNLOAD endless amounts of themes. This gives you the opportunity to make a blog into a lovely website. With wordpress.org you also can download plugins for your site that can make your site the most amazing out there. Plugins are extra things you can add to your site {many people make these and you can download most of them for free}. With the combination of amazing themes and plugins you can make any website you have in mind {including a full running store while still having a built in blog and whatever pages you want}. SO invest a bit and get ALOT more. :D

2) What is the price you need to make wordpress.org come to life?

You need 2 things to make it work.
The first thing is a Domain {which is the name of your website, mine is www.creativebalorina.com }
This costs $20 ($10 if you don’t want your information private- I don’t want my address or etc out on the web so I paid for the extra safety}
The second thing is a Host {this is a ‘home’ for your website, this is where all your files and website is kept and powered}
A host can range in price, the best one out there is bluehost.com and it costs $84 a year. Now I know it sounds like alot of money so here is a few options:

a) Since you are allowed to host as many domains as you want {as many websites} on that host, you can have a few of your friends pitch in for the price and you can all have the same host but different websites.

b) Since I already have a host account you can use mine {and I will install the wordpress for you} for $20 a year.

3) What themes do you recommend?

There are some very nice themes out there, I have tried over 300 of them haha and I have found a few precious ones.
The best free one out there is by farrr found on this website:

SLR Lounge
- They have made these mostly for photographers but you can edit it to make it whatever you want and with a flash banner :)

Paid ones:

Elegant Themes
- $39 and you can choose between many different themes {very professional and flash built in}
- The downside of these themes is that its so hard to get them perfect..

Storefront Themes
- $39
- 5 basic themes to choose from
- used with the E-commerce plugin
- this is the one I am using {I’m using the Storefront Elegance}
- Highly recommend this one because it is VERY customizable and they have a great support team.
