My friends and I went on a last minute adventure to Laguna Beach to watch the sunset and I’m so happy we did. It was one of the most beautiful and colorful sunsets I have ever seen. The pink and purple hues seem to paint the sky with a watercolor effect which makes me ponder on our talented Creator.

Beautiful right? Take a couple hours this week to watch a sunset and admire the free art in the sky :)

my current song obsession; The Same Love by Paul Baloche

You choose the humble and raise them high
You choose the weak and make them strong
You heal our brokenness inside
And give us life

The same love that set the captives free
The same love that opened eyes to see
Is calling us all by name
You are calling us all by name
The same God that spread the heavens wide
The same God that was crucified
Is calling us all by name
You are calling us all by name

You take the faithless one aside
And speak the words “You are mine”
You call the cynic and the proud
Come to me now

The same love that set the captives free
The same love that opened eyes to see
Is calling us all by name
You are calling us all by name
The same God that spread the heavens wide
The same God that was crucified
Is calling us all by name
You are calling us all by name

Oh oh…

You’re calling You’re calling
You’re calling us to the cross
(Repeat 4x)

The same love that set the captives free
The same love that opened eyes to see
Is calling us all by name
You are calling us all by name
The same God that spread the heavens wide
The same God that was crucified
Is calling us all by name
You are calling us all by name

You’re calling You’re calling
You’re calling us to the cross
You’re calling You’re calling
You’re calling us to the cross

On Friday I was invited by my dear friend to the Kingsfield Fieldfest 2012 event and so last minute I grabbed my picnic blanket and we took off. It was a lovely event which included a free concert from 3 bands {My Double My Brother // Moi // Leeland} and plenty of games and free prizes.

there were many games around, including volleyball

We got there pretty early so we wondered around to see all the booths and activities and the LOVELY Crush&Kreed sunglasses booth gave us both a pair of sunglasses for answering a question! It was very exciting to win something and something so cute too! We got to choose from many wonderful ones and I ended up with Nicola by Crush and Melissa got Heartbreaker by Kreed, both Christian companies!

they are my new favorite sunglasses!

I was happy to see a Krochet Kids booth out there as well! They are one of my favorite non-profit companies, if you get a chance go check out their story.

we also saw some peeps doing tricks at the skatepark while waiting for the concert

My Double My Brother

They were such a creative band! In the middle of the song they would switch instruments or sing acapella.

Moi

This band came on strong, all very talented members. I especially loved the violin player, he played with such joy and although he had amazing talent, he played effortless.

Leeland

I first heard Leeland at a New Years event at Knotts Berry Farm and I loved them eversince. They were the reason we decided to go to this event and we are glad we did. They did a great job and it was amazing to see them in such a laid back setting. Afterward we went and talked to them and took some photos and I was happy to see how down-to-earth they are. :)

Here are some songs from their website;

Thank you Melissa for the adventure

we got some free photos from their photobooth!

p.s. I had some videos of the night as well but apparently my camera cannot record that high of music so they came out weird haha I’ll keep them to myself for now

OH and the frames I used in this post are all from this blog package.

I started off the day with a text from a great friend of mine and along wishing me a Happy Easter she send me the link to this song; Because of Your Love by Phil Wickham. This is a pure song that states simply what God has done for us, the ultimate love act. Sometimes I wondered if what He did was necessary and if there was another way He could have achieved the same thing. If He just said that He forgives us instead of sending His only son to die for us it would have been less painful for Him. Then I realize how detailed His plan is and how everything works entwined together. That’s when I realize that it’s the only and best thing He could have done. He gave up EVERYTHING first so that we may be able to give up our stubbornness and make a step towards Him. He made the first step, at the cross Jesus gave it all, now He waits for us to draw near to Him (James 4:8). Take the time to draw near to Him and your life will change for the better.

Because of Your great love by Phil Wickham

Jesus you endured my pain
Savior you bore all my shame
All because of your love

Maker of the universe
Broken for the sins of the earth
All because of your love
All because of your love

Because of your cross my debt is paid
Because of you blood my sins are washed away
Now all of my life, I freely give
Because of your love, Because of your love I live

Innocent and Holy king
You died to set the captive free
All because of your love
Lord you gave your life for me
So I will live my life for you
All because of your love
All because of your love

Because of your cross my debt is paid
Because of your blood my sins are washed away
Now all of my life I freely give
Because of your love, because your love I live

You did it for me, you did it for love
It’s your victory, Jesus you are enough

These past few days I was lucky enough to go on a small mission trip to Mexico along a few other churches and although I have been there before, each time I stand amazed. I stand amazed at how in the hardest living conditions, even people living in the dumps of Tijuana, people are still joyful. It really puts the world into perspective.. when children are jumping in the dirty gutter and making a game into getting out different ways, and they can laugh and find joy in that, who are we to be bitter and upset with what we have? When we have a home with a roof that isn’t falling apart in the storm, when we have a bed with a good mattress and clean warm blankets, who are we to be unhappy? When we complain that “we don’t have anything to eat” while we stare at a full fridge we need to think how these kids get SO happy to have a piece of gum. SO happy to have a chocolate bar or the simplest of things. It breaks my heart to see children and people in bad conditions and knowing I can’t help them all. But then I realized one thing… while they might not have many possessions and a perfect life, they are HAPPY and have hope and trust in God. Shame on us if we can’t do that when we have so many possessions. In Matthew 19:23-24 we read “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” And the we think, whew I’m glad I’m not rich! But think again because “if you have food in your fridge, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of the world”!!!

It is harder for us to be happy because we are in a society where possessions and items are important and it’s encouraged to do what’s best for you instead of a place where the only thing you need is God and His love and mercy. So what should or can you do? Because I am not saying that you should give all your possessions away and move to Mexico. What I’m saying is that we need to constantly look to God because it’s is very easy for us to lose sight of what’s important when around us what is defined as important is wealth, possessions, and self ambitions. And help anyone at any chance you get, show love in the simplest of form to everyone and grow in your relationship with Christ because that is where you’ll learn true love.

If you have not watched this video yet, watch it & share it with everyone you can.

Lately I was thinking about how sad it is that in today’s culture, where we have internet and connection and news from all over the world, that we can see a criminal and do nothing about it. We fell into a fast & lazy & self-centered pattern where if something didn’t benefit us we don’t want to do it. We need a wake-up call. When there’s a man who is abducting, raping, abuses, brain washing, killing, hurting, mutating, CHILDREN and he’s getting away with it, it’s disgusting. This has been happening for many years and although we heard about it (and the government has), we haven’t stopped him. These poor families, and children are left without hope. WE can do something. WE can make him known, TELL everyone about him and MAKE the government see that this is a issue we care about and want to end it. So here’s what you can do, get the word out and if you can make contributions to the army of Uganda who is on a mission to stop him.

What else? Get the word out. On April 20th at night, anyone who cares and wants to help will crowd the streets and put up posters and stickers throughout their cities. Get involved, download your own poster to print by clicking it and saving the image.
